Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Announces Rouson Memorial Lecture with Keynote Speaker Linda Pierce

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ proudly announces the upcoming Rouson Memorial Lecture, set to take place on Wednesday, February 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chowan Chapel. This highly anticipated annual event celebrates the legacy of the Rouson family while highlighting community service, humanitarian efforts, and academic enrichment.

The keynote speaker for this year’s lecture is Linda Pierce, an accomplished leader and visionary advocate for inclusive community development. Pierce’s extensive career spans work in public service, non-profit leadership, and higher education, with a focus on empowering underserved populations. Her inspiring message is certain to resonate with the university and local community alike.

In addition to the keynote address, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will honor two outstanding individuals who embody the spirit of service and compassion:

  • Derek A. Burke will receive the Futrell/Ruffin Community Service Award, recognizing his exceptional dedication to community outreach and civic engagement.
  • Brunet V. Parker will be awarded the Minnie Wood Perkins Humanitarian Award, acknowledging her extraordinary efforts to improve the lives of others through acts of kindness and leadership.

The Rouson Memorial Lecture is a cornerstone of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s commitment to fostering dialogue and action around social justice, education, and community advancement. It provides a platform for celebrating individuals and initiatives that make a meaningful impact in the region and beyond.
