2022 Senior Banquet & Commencement Speakers and Gonfaloniers Named

Feb 26, 2022 by Staff Reports

2022 Speakers

An important part of the annual Senior Banquet and Commencement Ceremony are the speeches delivered by members of the graduating class. By having students
speak, it acknowledges the centrality of students in the life of the University. The five-minute speeches provide an opportunity for the university community to hear the
voices of the students. Typically, the speeches blend personal perspective with a sense of the significance of the moment. The speeches also allow students to express joy and gratitude and reflect on the present and future life that they and their fellow classmates have and will lead.
This year’s speakers are:

Senior Banquet – Thursday, April 28

  • Allison Traub (Exercise Science)
  • Diamond Martin (Graphic Communications)
  • Skadi Kylander (Biology)
  • Patrick Krack (Sport Management)
  • Zyon Pye (IntegrativeStudies)

Commencement Ceremony – Saturday, May 7

  • Jason Jenkins (Integrative Studies)
  • Harri Lovett (Business)
  • Meredith Morgan (Biology)
  • AhmeikaJones (Business Administration)
  • Gerard Parson (Master of Arts in Teaching)

2022 Gonfaloniers

Each Â鶹ÊÓƵ school selects a student to lead their degree candidates during the commencement procession. These students, called gonfaloniers, carry the school’s gonfalon, a banner that hangs down from a crosspiece and bears the school’s name and the Universit y seal. Following the tradition borrowed from the Italian Renaissance, the gonfaloniers represent som e of Chowan’s m ost accom plished student s. The 2022 gonfaloniers are:

  • School of Art s and Sciences: Jenna Grim (Psychology)
  • School of Education and Professional Studies: Destiny Robinson (Criminal Justice)
  • School of Business and Design: Michaela Worthington (Business Adm inistration)
  • School of Graduate Studies: Luke Staats (Organizational Leadership)
