Third-Year Duke Law Student gives Chowan Students LSAT Tips

Oct 26, 2018 by Staff Reports

On October 9th, third-year Duke University School of Law student and Murfreesboro native, South Moore, gave tips to Chowan criminal justice majors on how to study for and take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

Moore, the guest speaker and son of Chowan Provost Danny Moore, also answered questions about the expectations of law school. Moore is the Managing Editor of the Duke Law Journal and Director of Public Policy for the Duke Law Innocence Project.

When asked what he thought about Â鶹ÊÓƵ preparing students for law school, Moore commented, “I have had a CU pennant on my wall since I left for college in 2011. That should tell you how I feel about Chowan.” He added, “Go Heels, too.”

Moore graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and social economic justice. Before attending law school, he worked for the President of the University of North Carolina and studied for the LSAT in the evenings. Summer 2018, Moore interned at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Moore is slated to graduate from law school in 2019. Upon graduation, he will clerk for a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th circuit and then a judge for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Pam Woodard, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, accepted an appointment as Chowan's Pre-Law Coordinator in July. Since accepting the position, she has developed a pre-law advice guide and launched a LSAT study group, which meets each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Marks 123. Moore’s presentation complimented this new structure perfectly.
