Chowan finished the 2017-18 campaign with an 11-16 overall record and a fifth-place finish in the CIAA Northern Division.  The Hawks return six players from last year's squad: Robert Grubbs, Demetrius Sanders, Brandon Mayhan, Gus Rowland, Ugljesa Portic, and Keon Tucker.  Chowan will feature eight newcomers to the team.

Demetrius Sanders is the top scoring returner for the Hawks at 14.1 points per game.  Sanders also added 4.8 rebounds per contest.  Robert Grubbs and Gus Rowland chipped in with 12.9 and 12.4 points per contest respectively.  Grubbs knocked down a career-high 73 three-pointers, while Gus Rowland recorded 111 assists (second most in a single season).

North Carolina State is coming off a 21-12 record last year as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  The Wolfpack fell to Boston College in the opening round of the ACC Tournament and Seton Hall in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Wolfpack picked up huge wins against #2 Arizona, #2 Duke, #19 Clemson, #10 North Carolina, and #25 Florida State last season.

Torin Dorn leads the group of returners for the Wolfpack in scoring with 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per night.  Sophomore sharp shooter, Braxton Beverly, will not likely see time in the exhibition with an injury, paces the returners with 60 made three-pointers.

Following the contest, Chowan will have two weeks off to prepare for the regular season on November 12 at home against Piedmont International.
