CU Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Patriots On Road

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team picks up a non-conference regional shutout against Francis Marion on the road, 1-0, on Wednesday evening.

THE BASICS

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

After a slow start in the match with both teams with two shots each, the Hawks dominated the second half with eight shots.

 tallied the game-winner for his first goal of the season.   recorded the assist.

kept the clean sheet with three saves.  Chadderton notched his sixth shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st Half:

The Hawks recorded three corners in the first half but was unable to find a connection.

 posted the first shot of the match for either side as the attempt was blocked at the top of the box.

Elliot Chadderton saw his first action in the 22' but was saved.  Chadderton denied the other Patriot attempt in the 26'.

 notched the other shot for the Hawks in the half sailing his attempt high from the top of the box.

2nd Half:

Out of the halftime break, Denis Roule tallied a shot just 44 seconds into the half.

Chowan found the eventual game-winner in the 49' of play as Denis Roule pushed play up the right side of the pitch.  Ben Chapman streaking down the left side of the box connected on Roule's cross as Chapman dove head first to find the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

In the 73', Chowan nearly tallied their second goal of the match as completes the scissor kick attempt finishing to the far right post but was negated as Wattam was offside.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns back to Conference Carolinas action as the Hawks travel to Central, S.C. to face Southern Wesleyan in a crucial league tilt on Saturday, October 21.
