SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Swimming program opened their second season under the direction of Matthew Hood at the Converse Women's Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  The Hawks placed second out of seven teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Session One:

200 yd Medley Relay

Chowan picked up a second and sixth place finish in the relay.  Chowan's 'A' relay finished second with a time of 1:54.78.  , , , and  led the way.

1650 yd Free

 grabbed a third place finish in the eventh while teammate  finished fifth.  O posted a time of 19:26.47, while Ireland touched the wall at 20:25.82.

 finished behind Ireland in sixth.

200 yd Butterfly

 finished seventh in the eventh with a time of 2:41.71.

200 yd Breaststroke

 grabbed a top-five finish with a time of 2:38.82.

Mackenzie Lucy finished ninth overall.

50 yd Free

 touched the wall first in the event with a time of 25.55.   finished fourth at 26.24.

 grabbed fifth with  in ninth.

200 yd Backstroke

 finished first in the event by nearly three seconds with a time of 2:16.62.

 picked up a seventh place finish touching at 2:23.17.

200 yd Free

 was the top time in the event with a time of 2:02.35, touching two seconds before the next swimmer.

 finished third overall with a time of 2:06.16.

400 yd IM

 was the top Hawk in the event with a ninth place finish.  Hull touched the wall at 6:14.58.

400 yd Free Relay

The Hawks picked up another relay victory as the squad of , , and  finished with a time of 3:45.80.

Chowan's 'B' relay finished fourth.  , , , and  comprised of the relay.

Session Two:

400 yd Medley

Chowan took fourth and fifth in the event with a time of 4:15.99 and 4:22.89 respectively.

, , , and  posted the top time for the Hawks.

500 yd Free

 led the Hawks in the event with a fourth place finish.  O touched the wall at 5:35.69.

 finished 10th overall with a time of 5:51.86.

100 yd IM

 picked up a fifth place finish with a time of 1:06.30.  finished 10th overall.

100 yd Backstroke

 touched the wall at 1:02.33 for a second place finish.  Chmielewska was out-touched by 0.10.

 finished fourth just .04 behind her teammate, Chmielewska.   finished seventh overall.

100 yd Backstroke

 picked up a top-five finish with a fourth place tally touching the wall at 1:13.22.

Teammate Mackenzie Lucy finished eighth with a time of 1:16.47.

100 yd Free

 picked up another top-five finish with a fifth place finish with a time of 57.73.

 and  finished eighth and ninth respectively.   finished 11th.

100 yd Butterfly

 finished fourth overall in the event with a time of 1:04.07.   tallied a ninth place finish.

200 yd IM

 touched the wall for a third place finish with a time of 2:19.27.

200 yd Free Relay

Chowan grabbed the top spot in the relay with a time of 1:42.40.   started off the relay with , , and  followed.

Chowan will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete against Division I Howard and George Washington in a tri-meet on Saturday, October 14.
