Chowan Athletics Department Raises $67,000 in Hour-A-Thon Fundraiser
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Athletics Department is participating in the Hour-A-Thon fundraiser, running through Sunday, September 29th.Â
Each program helped raise funds to achieve fundraising goals for their specific program. Chowan student-athletes were tasked to come up with potential donors to contact during the one-hour fundraising blitz.Â
Hour-A-Thon is an organization that helps raise money quickly by using a direct text or call from the participant to potential donors’ cell phones.
Through September 26th, the department has raised a total of $67,000.
Softball came in at the top of the Hawks sports programs with 147 total donors and $13,765.00. Volleyball came in with 97 donors and $10,570.00. Baseball came in with 89 donors and $7,495.00 raised.
Madison Armstrong (volleyball) and Bryce Bennett (men’s golf) were the department’s top individual fundraisers. Morgan Baccus (softball) and Abbie Sutton (women’s cross country/lacrosse) rounded out the departments top four donation amount rankings.
In total, sixteen of the Hawks programs combined efforts to raise the $67,000. In total 788 individuals donated to the cause. Donations assist teams with travel, program purchases, and improvements.
