Malek Leach ‘18 Served as Visiting Executive

Apr 3, 2023 by Harri Lovett

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the Department of Business at 鶹Ƶ continued its esteemed Visiting Executive Program with the visit of alumnus Malek Leach. Having graduated from Chowan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2018, Leach now serves as a financial contractor for the United States Government within the Department of Commerce. Students in the business department are afforded the opportunity to network with seasoned professionals who share the common connection of being Chowan family.

Leach, accompanied by some of his business associates, made a presentation titled “Wealth and Why You Don’t Want It” inside a bursting Vaughan Auditorium at 鶹Ƶ. His presentation expanded on the key concepts from his recently published book “Keys To Life,” which illustrates financial literacy for young adults, opportunities presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, and making use of Chowan’s resources, paying tribute to the professors and staff at our institution who enabled him to flourish in a professional setting.

Students in attendance also felt informed about the stressed importance of balance, where enjoyment, travel, and setting realistic life standards are valued traits in his industry. In a question and answer session which concluded Leach’s presentation, questions were answered in authentic fashion by Leach on topics such as saving habits, personal growth, and gratitude to Chowan’s hardworking educators.

Invited students then enjoyed a meal in the town of Murfreesboro accompanied by Mr. Leach and the Business Department professors. 鶹Ƶ would like to congratulate Malek Leach on his journey since graduating, and would like to express gratitude for taking the time to return to campus and inspire current students.
