麻豆视频 SeniorFEST features Pepper Choplin
麻豆视频 was pleased to return to an in-person SeniorFEST on Tuesday, March 21st. This day designed for senior adults, was full of entertainment and education. Humorist, composer, and conductor Pepper Choplin was the featured guest.
Choplin, a Raleigh native, is well known in the church music world for his prolific published works of anthems and cantatas. He has conducted nine New York concerts of his music at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Julliard. He added to his repertoire by leading the 300-person SeniorFEST crowd in his favorite hymns and James Brown’s 鈥淚 Feel Good.鈥
After the morning entertainment, guests were able to choose from one of six breakout sessions to attend. The Rev. Daryl Trexler from the NC Baptist Foundation led 鈥淕randparent鈥檚 Guide to Raising a Generous Family.鈥 Dr. Donna Roberson and Jean Matthews from ECU School of Nursing focused on memory issues in their session, 鈥淗elp! I forgot where I put my keys.鈥 Minister to the University, Rev. Mari Wiles, with Minister of Engagement Calvin Carter, offered encouragement in their session, 鈥淗ope is a VERB.鈥 鈥淢edicare 101鈥 was led by Lisa Barker from SHIIPP (Seniors鈥 Health Insurance Information Program) and JoAnne Powell from the Hertford County Office of Aging. A tour through Whitaker Libary鈥檚 archives was a part of the 鈥淟iving History鈥 session hosted by assistant professor of library science Frances Cole. ECU Health Wellness Center Ahoskie Coaches Jason Jenkins and Lisa Lane introduced their participants to 鈥淢ind and Body Fitness.鈥
Following the breakout sessions, guests enjoyed a delicious classic southern buffet served by Chowan鈥檚 catering service, Pioneer. The guests were further entertained by Choplin with song parodies and jokes. The day concluded with a drawing for door prizes which were distributed by University Staff as well as members of the Hertford Health Maintenance Alliance (HHMA) Taskforce on Aging.
鈥淚t was such a joy to see all of our senior friends back on campus,鈥 shared Director of Church & Community Relations Lou Ann Gilliam. 鈥淚 believe we all laughed harder and sang louder because we were so glad to be back together again for SeniorFEST.鈥
