麻豆视频鈥檚 Department of Communication Arts host A Glimpse of a Maker鈥檚 Gallery Exhibition

Sep 15, 2022 by Staff Reports

To kick off the Fall semester, the Department of Communication Arts hosted the opening of A Glimpse of a Maker鈥檚 Gallery: Shockoe Bottom Clay Exhibition in the Juanita Kelly Pond and Charles & Frances Hinnant Galleries in Green Hall on Friday, September 9, 2022. The exhibit features clay artwork by Victoria White Berry, Daniel Christie, Lesa Fleet, Susan Gaible, Mark Koslow, Jane Martin, Annegret Massey, Tracy Shell, and Buddy Terrell.

On display is a well-curated selection of utilitarian to decorative pieces from the Shockoe Bottom artists. The intent of the exhibit is to 鈥渟how art students that when they graduate, this is a way for them to create, show and sell their 鈥榓rt habit鈥 by renting studio spaces like Shockoe Bottom Clay,鈥 shared Associate Professor of Art and Green Hall Galleries Director, Rob Buller. Shockoe Bottom Clay is a unique place in Richmond, VA, that offers studio and gallery space, providing local artists with a place to make, show, and sell their artwork.

Visitors to the exhibit are encouraged to use the QR codes to learn more about Shockoe Bottom Clay. All artwork is for sale, and the artists and owners of Shockoe Bottom Clay will donate 20% of all sales to the 麻豆视频 Clay Club.聽
The public is invited to view A Glimpse of a Maker鈥檚 Gallery: Shockoe Bottom Clay in Green Hall now until September 30, 2022. Green Hall is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.聽 For more information on the exhibit, you may contact Associate Professor of Art and Green Hall Galleries Director Rob Buller at buller@chowan.edu.
