Seven Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Students present at National Convention

Seven Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ members of the North Carolina Phi Chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, led by sponsor, Syble Shellito, presented academic research at "Our Green Planet": The 2018 Alpha Chi National Convention in Portland, Oregon.

Katrina Hodge of Columbia, MD-  "Racial Differences in Reported Experiences of Distress, Forgiveness, and Likelihood of Relationship Dissolution After Infidelity"

Alyssa Born of Dyer, IN-  “Human Trafficking: An Emerging Epidemic"

Victoria Baez-Quirozo of Pembroke Pines, FL-  "The Sanctuary Movement: The Foundation of Modern Sanctuary Cities"

Kyle Davison of Murfreesboro, NC-  "Subcategories of Burnout: How They Manifest Among Collegiate Coaches"

George Kattan of Beit Jala, Palestine- "Northern Lights"

Zoe Beale of Courtland, VA- "Vita Notturna – The New Name in Cosmetic Subscription Boxes"

 

Four-hundred-fifteen attendees represented 79 chapters at the national conference. More than 275 students and groups presented competing for $85,700 in scholarships, fellowships, prizes, and grants for the best papers, presentations, projects, and plans for future study. Conference presentation provides students with the opportunity to learn new skills, practice their academic talents, and network.

Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic national honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Membership is limited to the top ten percent of an institution’s juniors, seniors, and graduate/professional students on each campus. With more than 300 chapters and an active presence in almost every state, Alpha Chi actively promotes academic excellence, undergraduate and graduate research, campus academic dialogue, and civic engagement.
