CU Volleyball Evens Record In Win Against Bulldogs
BOWIE, MD.- The Chowan Volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over CIAA Northern Division foe, Bowie State, on Sunday afternoon to remain perfect in the Northern Division.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Set: Chowan 25, Bowie State 15
Chowan jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage that featured a kill by Courtney O'Keefe and Makayla Castro, as well as, three service aces by Karisa Patterson.
Bowie State battled back to cut the deficit to 10-7. Both teams traded points until Brittany Tschida notched a kill to move the Hawks to 15-11.
After the Brittany Tschida kill, the Hawks rattled off seven straight points to take a 22-11 lead. Bailey Zavalaserved the Hawks during the rally with three service aces along with Makayla Castro notching two kills and a kill.
BSU cut into the Hawks' lead at 22-15 but Milica Vejnovic,, and Makayla Castro ended the set with a kill each.
2nd Set: Chowan 25, Bowie State 21
The Bulldogs started off the set strong leading the Hawks 8-3. Chowan rallied back to knot the set at 10-10.
Bowie State regained the lead at 15-13 before a 6-0 run pushed the Hawks back out front, 19-15. Makayla Castrostarted the run with two service aces and a kill. Milica Vejnovic ended the run with a kill.
BSU clawed back to bring the set to within one, 21-20, but three errors by the Bulldogs pushed the set out of reach as Karisa Patterson dumped a pass over falling in for the kill to end the set.
3rd Set: Chowan 25, Bowie State 22
The back and forth third set featured the Hawks jumping out to an early 9-4 advantage. Makayla Castro started the Hawks off with a kill with Cheryl Thomas and Kayla Gates following suit. Three straight attack errors by the Bulldogs aided the Hawks' effort.
Two kills by Brittany Tschida and a service ace by Courtney O'Keefe rounded out the early rally.
Bowie State rallied to knot the match at 14-all after back-to-back service aces.
The match would be tied at 15 and 17 as the Bulldogs aided in the miscues to hand the Hawks points for Chowan to lead 23-21.
Brittany Tschida and Kayla Gates ended the set and match with kills.
