CU Women’s Soccer Handles Lincoln, 5-0

OXFORD, Pa.- The Chowan Women's Soccer team bounced back from their first loss of the season to shutout Lincoln (Pa.) for the second time this season, 5-0, on the road in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

 picked up her tenth goal of the season and added two assists in the win.

 tallied three points on the afternoon with a goal and an assist.

, , and scored a goal for the Hawks.

Junior netminder, , recorded her sixth shutout of the season while picking up five saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st Half

Chowan came out aggressive to open the match as the first shot of the contest for the Hawks found the back of the net.  Mackenzie Imamura found the back of the net for the first time this season just 1:53 into the match.  Carolina Lucci sent the pass to Imamura for the 1-0 advantage.

The Hawks continued to attack in the 10' as Carolina Lucci scored for the tenth time this season to give Chowan a 2-0 lead.  Sabrina Henderson sent in a cross to Lucci beating the 2v1 chance.

Asia Fort pushed the Hawks forward in the 34' as the defender scored on a breakaway from the left side to give CU a 3-0 advantage heading into the half.

2nd Half

In the 60' Carolina Lucci returned the favor to Sabrina Henderson as Lucci sent in a cross finding Henderson for the goal.

Jaime Calcagno scored the final tally for the Hawks in the 84' to push the advantage to 5-0.

Lincoln had chances in the match but was denied by Olivia Borer to maintain the shutout.

UP NEXT

Chowan travels to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King (Tenn.) in a Conference Carolinas clash on Saturday, October 7.  The Tornado sit at the bottom of the league table with a 1-5-0 record in league play
