Chowan Men’s Soccer Victorious Against Raiders
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Regionally ranked Chowan Men's Soccer team picked up their third straight shutout as the Hawks picked up a 2-0 victory in non-conference action against the visiting Raiders of Shippensburg on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half
The Hawks were unable to find the back of the net in the first half as both teams recorded five shots in the opening stanza.
Shippensburg opened the attack in the 3' as a header was saved by Elliot Chadderton. Chadderton would save two more shots on the next three shots by the Raiders. In the 10', Chadderton denied a Shippensburg attack and again in the 18' with an easy save.
The Hawks recorded five corners in the first half but was unable to find a boot at the end of one.
Chowan and Shippensburg went into the half scoreless.
2nd Half
Chowan picked up the pace in the second half firing off 11 shots and holding Shippensburg to one. The Raiders' keeper made five saves in the second half.
The Hawks broke through the Raiders' back-line in the 67' as played the ball up the right wing. Koeprueluegil would send the ball up to Jamie McNicholas on the right side of the box. McNicholas connected with the streaking sliding the pass across the width of the box finding the foot of Williamson to punch it home.
Chowan continued to attack as recorded back-to-back shots inside the box but were denied by the Raiders' keeper.
Lee Wattam gave the Hawks space in the 87' netting his second goal of the season. Ben Chapman played a ball from the left side of the box and was flicked on by Terell Williamson finding Wattam alone on the right side for the goal.
UP NEXT
Chowan will hit the road for their first Conference Carolinas road trip of the season, as the Hawks travel to Due West, S.C. to face Erskine in a league match-up. Erskine is 2-2-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the league sitting atop the conference standings.
