Chowan Football Releases 2017 Schedule

MURFREESBORO, NC – The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Department of Athletics has released the 2017 football schedule. The Hawks, who played six home games in 2016, will hit the road for six games this season and host four games at Garrison Stadium. 

Chowan kicks-off the 2017 season  with Fayetteville State University at home on September 2nd in a nonconference battle.  The Hawks will hit the road for two consecutive weekends with stops at Delta State University (9/9) and the University of West Florida (9/16). They will return home to host Livingstone College in a CIAA cross-over game on September 30th at 6:00pm in Garrison Stadium. 

The Hawks hit the road for three straight Saturday's starting September 30th at Johnson C. Smith University in CIAA cross-over game. The Hawks will open CIAA Northern Division play at Bowie State University on October 7th and follow that with a October 14th trip to Richmond to play Virginia Union University. 

Wrapping up the home season the Hawks will host back to back games on October 21st and October 28th. For Homecoming on October 21st, Chowan will host Eliabeth City State University. For the annual Hall of Fame game the Hawks will host Virginia State University on October 28th. 

Chowan will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Lincoln, Pennsylvania to play Lincoln University. Times for games will be released once finalized. 

Chowan posted a 6-4 overall record in 2016 and a 4-3 CIAA record. The Hawks finished up at 2-3 in the CIAA Northern Division. The Hawks claimed several CIAA awards this season.  was named to the All CIAA Rookie Team as an offensive lineman. ,  , , , , , and   were named to the All-CIAA Second Team with  and  grabbing Honorable Mention recognition. 

The Hawks recorded a winning season for the second consecutive season; a first for the team in the NCAA Division II era.
