CU Rolls By Salem International

 MURFREESBORO, NC – The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men's basketball team rolled to a 98-65 non-conference win over Salem International University on Wednesday night. The Hawks spread the offensive attack with 10 different Hawks scoring points in the win.  paced the squad with 21 points in the Hawks 9th win of the season.  Chowan maintained their unbeaten home streak with the win, running it to eight wins on their home court.

Chowan caught fire in the first half, hitting 69% (20-29) from the floor. They picked up 19 points off of forced turnovers in the first half alone and out rebounded the Tigers 15-6 under the boards to take a 57-31 lead into halftime.

Chowan's hot hand continued through the second half, hitting 35-65 from the floor to finish the game hitting shots at a 54% clip. The Hawks spread their lead to as many as 38 points in the second half.  Chowan battled under the boards, out rebounding the Tigers 42 to 24 in the win.

The Hawks tied their highest point total of the season with tonight's 98-65 win.

Along with Goodwin's game-high 21 points,  scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds.  netted 15 point and dished out three assists and had three steals.

For Salem International, Ignacio Rodriquez scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Tigers. Josh Carpenter scored 13.

Chowan improved to 9-3 after Wednesday's win. Salem International fell to 1-15 on the year.  The Hawks will hit the floor again on Saturday, January 14th, as they play host to Elizabeth City State University in the first CIAA North Division game of the year. The game will be televised on the Aspire Network both regionally and nationally.  to see the television syndication list. Tip-off is slated for 4:05pm at the Helms Center.
