Â鶹ÊÓƵ Welcomes the Boy Scouts of America East Carolina Council
MURFREESBORO, NC –Â鶹ÊÓƵ welcomed the Boy Scouts of America East Carolina Council to their campus for their Merit Badge College on October 15th. Faculty and Staff taught workshops on Metal Working, First Aid, Digital Technology, and many more to participating scouts. Boy Scouts from seven units in the council attended this event in hopes to leave the University with approval from the Merit Badge Counselor for their new badge.
Dr. Brenda Tinkham, Associate Provost for External Relations at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, served as Facilitator of this event. Close to 200 scouts, leaders, and merit badge counselors were in attendance. Over 20 faculty and staff members from Â鶹ÊÓƵ helped out. On that day, scouts earned 185 complete merit badges and 180 partials.
“One of the purposes of the Boy Scouts is to grow boys into men. On the Â鶹ÊÓƵ campus we saw evidence of this practice in action,” comments Tinkham. “We are so thankful to Dr. Chris White, President of the University, and the support of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ family in making our 7th Â鶹ÊÓƵ Merit Badge College a success.”
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is proud to support scouts in their efforts this year and in the years to come.
