MURFREESBORO- The Â鶹ÊÓƵ women's soccer team earned their third straight win on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over William Peace University.  The Hawks move to 5-5 on the season with the victory while the Pacers slide to 2-10-1 overall with the setback.  Chowan's five wins is the most for the women's soccer program since the 2009 season (5-13).

Alyssa Gasperini led the effort for the Pacers with three shots in the setback.

Oliva Borer recorded two saves for Chowan in the shutout win.  Shannon Maddex grabbed six saves in-goal for William Peace.

In the 21st minute of play, a goal by Surio gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead.  She sent the ball near post past a diving effort from Maddex using Beal's assist.  Pallet found the back of the net ten minutes later; scoring an unassisted goal far post with William Peace's keeper out of the box.  In the 36th minute, Surio pushed Chowan ahead 3-0 with a goal near the crossbar.  Pallet was credited with the assist on the play.

After taking a 3-0 lead into the halftime break, the Hawks continued the momentum into the second half.  A strong defensive effort kept William Peace off the scoreboard and allowed Chowan to control the game.  With less than four minutes left in the contest, a pair of goals by Beal put the game out of reach.  Her first goal occurred at the 86:08 mark after she took advantage of a rebound to send the ball just under the crossbar.  Two minutes later, a shot into the post by led to a rebound, which Beal promptly sent to the back of the net to secure the 5-0 win for the Hawks.

Chowan hits the road on October 9th and 10th to take on Lincoln University (PA) and Chestnut Hill, respectively.   The Hawks return to their home field on October 16th as Chowan plays host to Barton College in a 3pm contest.
