Hawks Handle Rams

 MURFREESBORO- The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women's soccer team picked up their second consecutive win on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Columbia International University.  The Hawks improve to 4-5 on the season with the win while the Rams move to 5-3-1 on the year with the setback.  Chowan's four wins marks the most for the women's soccer program since the 2009 season when the team posted a 5-13 overall record. 

The Rams and Hawks battled through a competitive first half before  put Chowan on the board.  In the 37th minute, she used a cross from  to send the ball far post, giving the Hawks a 1-0 edge. 

Holding a 1-0 advantage after the halftime break, Chowan came out firing early in the second half.  In the 50th minute, scored a goal near post behind Imamura's assist to leave the Rams trailing 2-0.  Beal struck again for the Chowan Blue and White, heading the ball past Columbia International's keeper five minutes later to send the Hawks ahead 3-0.   was credited with the assist on the play.

Chowan held Columbia International off the scoreboard for the reminder of the contest, securing the 3-0 win.  Both teams recorded 11 shots over the course of the competition with the Hawks holding a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.  Beal led all players in the game with six shots followed by Surio with three shots for Chowan.  made three saves for Chowan in the shutout win. 

Alanna Battermann tallied three shots for the Rams with Sotiria Tsilionis and Janal McMaster adding two shots apiece.  Sam Wammock notched four saves for Columbia International. 

The Hawks return to action on October 5th as Chowan plays host to William Peace University.  Game time is slated for 3:30pm on Hawks Field.
