Vaughn Byrd is the recipient of the Vera Parker Womble Christian Service Award. The award was presented to Byrd at the Senior Banquet on Thursday, April 28. The university instituted the award to be presented to a student in recognition of Christian faith and commitment expressed in service and good works benefiting the university and community, classmates and friends, faculty and staff. The award is named in memory of Vera Parker Womble, a Chowan graduate who was a model Christian woman.
