Criminal Justice students at Â鶹ÊÓƵ recently had the invaluable opportunity to engage with Dupree Foster, a distinguished Special Police Officer (SPO) from the Chesapeake Police Department. Foster, a passionate motivational coach, provided insights into the benefits of pursuing a Criminal Justice Degree in today’s workforce. This event was just one of the many networking opportunities available to students, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of life beyond graduation.

During the interactive session, SPO Foster captivated the students with his passion for law enforcement and his dedication to serving the community. He shed light on the reasons behind his career choice and inspired the aspiring Criminal Justice professionals with his personal experiences. Foster’s visit not only allowed the students to learn about the practical applications of their degree but also provided a platform for them to ask questions and seek guidance on their future career paths.

This is but one of the multitude of events that the department has hosted for students, including simulated Firearms Training courses, visits to Washington D.C., and mock interviews to prepare graduating students for the questions they will be facing. The Criminal Justice program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ is renowned for its student involvement, which prepares students for a wide range of careers in law enforcement, corrections, and the legal system. Through practical experiences, internships, and guest speaker events, the program ensures that students are well-equipped to face the challenges of the criminal justice field upon graduation.
