In March 2023, ahead of Chowan鈥檚 annual Chowan Gives event, a challenge gift was given by an anonymous donor to launch the Football Locker Room Refresh Project.

The Bobby Gray Football Fieldhouse will undergo a much-anticipated upgrade with the purchase of new lockers. The upgrade to this facility began in October of 2022, with the installation of heating and air units to help with air circulation. With this in place, the next phase of the project will begin. Coach Paul Johnson says, 鈥渢he upgrade to the Bobby Gray Fieldhouse will help recruit and retain his student-athletes because their experience will be enhanced and something they are proud of.鈥�

The Football Locker Room Refresh endeavors to raise $130,000 for 130 new lockers. The challenge gift that set this project in motion of $20,000 leaves $110,000 and 110 lockers left to be purchased. The lockers are being sold for $1,000 each with the opportunity to name the locker for, in honor of, or in memory of someone. Football Alumni will be given the opportunity to include your name, number, position, and graduation year. For fans and friends, you can choose to say given by, in honor, or in memory of a name with a graduation year, if applicable.聽
